Interview With Sumit Sinha | Founder & MD Of An Wedding Planner Company, Purple Unicorn
Sumit Sinha, the founder and managing director of purple unicorn -is an expert in wedding planning. He plans, organize & execute weddings as well as other events in the best possible way.Recently he has been awarded as the best wedding planner in Ranchi in 2019. The famous Bollywood Diva Kangana Ranaut honored Sumit in 2019 in hotel Marriott, Bangkok Thailand. Not only Kangana previously he was awarded by the well known Pataudi daughter Soha ali khan in 2018 in Hotel TAJ, Bangalore.
Sumit is the only person in Jharkhand who earned this award. His hard work and dedication couldn’t stop him reaching this high, The award events were organized after a survey. There were other nominations too but Sumit made it. He was titled as the best entrepreneur in the field of wedding planning and event management.
Along with wedding planning, Sumit loves cooking and interacting with people.
He started his company in a small district Ranchi but his diligent and laborious nature made him organize more than 100 weddings across the world, he smartly provides premium arrangements in great affordable price. Intimate weddings or a grand destination wedding he puts every effort to make D day a beautiful piece of memory for his clients.

Q1) How did the idea for your business/startup come about? .
Ranchi is one of the fastest growing city right now, I was in Delhi in my early twenties, when I came down to Ranchi from Delhi for my sister’s marriage. My expectations were at a good level from the planner i hired . but eventually I saw they lack ideas and knowledge what does a wedding planning actually means, all they knew was” decoration.” I realized I could have organized this way better.
For me wedding is not just about decor or lights. It’s much beyond that. it’s about emotions , the connection that I can make with my clients , efforts , dedication , hard work to make the wedding the most beautiful day of a client’s life. Eventually I decided a startup.
Q2) What was your key driving force to become an entrepreneur?
My passion & my interest, These are key driving factor to choose me this path.
Q3) How did you come up with the name for your business/startup?
My Company Name is “ PURPLE UNICORN “
The color purple is often associated with royalty, power, nobility, luxury and ambition. Purple also represents meanings of wealth, creativity, extravagance, grandeur, devotion,wisdom, dignity peace, pride, mystery, independence, and magic.
And seeing Unicorn in real life is like Dreams come true.
And the interesting part is in my childhood my favorite colour was Purple and my favorite toy was Unicorn
Q4) What service(s) or product(s) do you offer/manufacture?
All kind of Wedding Planning, Wedding Anniversary and Birthday Celebration Party
Q5) Why should people choose your product/services?
Because for us wedding is not just a deal, all that we want is a “happy client” – fully satisfied & pleased with our efforts and hard work, and of course we take at least 3 months to plan every single wedding in the best possible way.
Q6) How do you market your business, and which tactics have been most successful?
Social media & most successful tactics is our satisfied client means Mouth to Mouth advertisement
Q7) What risks are you facing?
We didn’t Face any risk till date, yes we faced my challenges but we love that to face it .
Q8) What are your responsibilities as the business owner?
I personally handle everything, not only events but I take care of my team the same way. I always present in my events till we wind up. And I make sure everything goes smooth perfect.
Q9) How many hours a day do you work on average & can you describe/outline your typical day?
Generally we work 10 to 6 (Mon to Sat), But I am always available for my clients like 24×7 because most of our clients are NRI
Q10) What is your greatest fear, and how do you manage fear?
Disappointment – yes all that I fear is my client getting disappointed, client’s satisfaction and happiness is what I seek for.
So to manage my fear I hardly leave a point that can disappoint my client. We start up with planning at least 3 months before the event; I keep in touch throughout sharing every single detail so that everything goes mutually and with perfection.
Q11) What comes first for you money or emotions?
Of course emotion.
Q12) What piece of advice would you give to college graduates who want to become entrepreneurs??
